The EF Honda Civic chassis is probably one of the less common Honda hatches you see these days.   While the Honda EG and EK are the more widely praised Civics in the Honda scene, there are still a limited few EF’s around that can play the game.  It all started when Woody drove up to Vallejo, CA back in June of 2006 and picked up his 1988 civic. Its sole purpose was to take him from point A to point B, while his CRX was down getting its motor rebuilt. The car was in its stock form the night he brought it home and was itching to start modifying his ’88 hatch.

The first night Woody brought the car home he ended up lowering the car, but it just wasn’t enough.  Over the years, Woody’s greed of going lower really took a toll on how the car sits now.  He started to notice his hatch going lower and lower to his likings and as the years passed the final result was just right, sitting approximately 1” from the side jacking points to the ground. With that being said, if you’re that low there is no way your oil pan will survive a hard impact from those stupid things in the street, known as potholes, so a custom 1/8 steel plate was fabbed up to protect the oil pan and the transmission case. To go with the mean slammed stance he accomplished a set of kosei rt maxi’s in 15×7 with offsets +17 all around.  To achieve a more aggressive fitment he added 15mm spacers all around with Federal 165/45/15 tires for a meaner stretch and to eliminate rubbing issues.

Yeah, this hatch is pretty damn slammed and the wheels fit pretty damn well, but the stance/fitment isn’t all this little hatch has to offer. Packed with a bunch of JDM pieces, this hatch is just a nice sight to see. It was that one day when a shop called N1 was having their “Black Wednesday Sale” event where Woody went all out.  He took advantage and ended up purchasing practically everything from ground up. Starting with Honda Japan bronze glass for the hatch, sides windows and doors, tail lights, thin moldings, power folding mirrors and even took it to the next level and scooped up a right hand drive (rhd) front clip.  The front clip was installed and completed in 3 days, and while doing the swap he managed to tuck the wires, brake lines and even shaved and re-sprayed the bay and car.

If I had to sum up Woody’s build in one word, it would have to be “dedication”.  Without his strive to make his EF Civic a one of a kind, it just wouldn’t have been possible.  Thanks to Woody for sharing his build with us and a huge thank you to Roberto Deluna for taking these sick shots for us!
