Audi R8: Not Just A Pretty Face
Most cars that grace the covers of magazines, bare it all as centerfolds in International publications and whore out on internet blogs and car sites started as plain, old sedans or entry level, under-powered coupes and sports cars. We take economy cars like Jettas, Civics or Integras and slam them to the ground, put the “wrong size” wheels and tires on them, do a full overhaul on the interior and slap big ‘ol turbos onto their sub-200hp motors but deep down, they’re still beautifully modified grocery getters (let’s be honest). Our passionate pursuit of the unique, powerful and clean drives us to turn these previously boring vehicles into works of art, far removed from their formerly mundane lives.
Then BOOM! Welcome to today’s feature: a car that came feature worthy from the factory. The Audi R8 is a piece of automotive perfection with curves that would make Scarlett Johansson jealous and a V10 motor that sounds as good as it feels when it pins you to your seat. You would be hard pressed to find someone who ISN’T a fan of this German beauty. It’s the anti-supercar of supercars; a mid-engine exotic with a powerful motor that is somehow relatively affordable considering the class of cars it calls home.
So how exactly does one improve upon perfection? Well, STaSIS Performance can help. For years, STaSIS has provided high quality performance upgrades for Audis and other VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) models. Apparently, this R8 wasn’t living up to its full potential so it was given the STaSIS Challenge Extreme Edition package, which includes upgrades to the brakes, wheels, exhaust, suspension, ECU and engine. If you have a pulse, its about to get quicker: this package features the largest Magnusson/Eaton blower in production taking the V10 from 525hp to 710hp and taking the 0-60 time down to a mere 3.0 seconds and a quarter-mile time of under 11 seconds!
And what better way to complete the look than a flat black paint job? From bumper to bumper and intake to exhaust, this thing screams, “Batman couldn’t even handle me.” It’s possible to take perfection to the next level and honestly, it should be done more often. There are not enough people in this world who take 525hp exotic cars and decide that they want 200 MORE horsepower. Is it expensive? Of course it is. I can’t remember the last time I spent $55,995 on a $200,000 car. The real question is this: Is it worth it? Well, I’m sure if you could catch the owner, he’d tell you the answer you already expected…
