There are a ton of aftermarket parts are currently out there to select from and it’s hard to find the right combination of parts for a car that is backed up with an abundance of aftermarket support. Basically, you sometimes just have to go with that first instinct, tune it, and pray it performs to your expectations. Well if you have a car that has proven it’s ground with a record of rally championships, you don’t have to worry with making a wrong choice with a Subaru.
Meet Barry Chan’s Subaru STI. He decided to go for this car solely by the manufacturer’s proven rally/track history. He always believed that “money can’t buy you taste”, hence the affordable STI selection for his racing pleasure. The end product was truly satisfying and close to perfect, just the way he likes it.
Inspired by the success of Voltex, he added a Voltex diffuser to reduce the drag in the rear. And it’s carbon fiber sexy!
“With Subaru being backed up by its rally ancestors and is also a popular platform for time attacks nowadays, I decided to mix both racing genre together and pack it into one car.” – Barry
The car has seen many cones and track day events. Barry shows up with his white lighting to HDPE events at Pacific Raceway in Kent, WA.
It was impossible acquiring the authentic WRC bumper for his car and the closest type of bumper available to his liking is produced by a company in Japan known as Launsport.
From stock, to a full Voltex kit, and then to present time… The car is well built to fit Barry’s purpose.
With form and function in mind, Barry decided to get a set of light weight TE-37 18×9.5 wheels for performance while still maintaining an aggressive look.
An amazing car that is well built for track days and yet can be a driven for daily transportation. Barry’s car is another prime example of a solid car that is geared for performance. Great job, Barry!

Wow this is rare! It’s hard to find Subaru’s built like this, especially on this site. Probably my fav Subaru of 2011. From the Launsport bumper all the way down to the RCE Tarmacs, perfection.

Or he’s just victim of some weird resizing. Looks MUCH better in the full-size than the initial.
