Winter is upon us, and the decision of what to drive throughout the inclement weather is drawing near. Do you go the reliable route with something large, heavy, truck-like? Or keep it subtle yet aggressive with one of the many turbo/AWD contenders on the market? David Charland (or “DeeSan”) had a completely different idea altogether; a 350Z!?
Living in Montreal, Quebec and owning an FD RX-7 seems like it could be a hassle in the wintertime when Mother Nature decides to burden us with the powdery white stuff. So Dee had to get a different car to rough it in the harsher months with. He had been borrowing his dad’s Audi Q5 for too long, the cutoff time had come. So he had that classic aforementioned decision to make. His choice, though against everyone else’s wishes, turned out to be a great one.
Dee knew exactly what he wanted out of this car from the second he got it. His love for the subtle classy lines, yet aggressive body styling of the Z33 made him confident on keeping an OEM body. This 24 year old had that stance itch inside of him and knew it needed to be on stretched tires, fat lips, with just that little bit of poke.
The entire car’s lack of pigment makes it alive with aggression and suspected homicide charges. But being murdered out is exactly how this proud Quebec car modifier wanted it. And who could blame him, now that you see the finished product? From nose to tail this Z oozes black paint. Throwing visibility to the wind, he even smoked the tails, back up lights, and side markers.
The black fender arches would have to get filled somehow, it was just a matter of what size wheel to cram underneath, and how long to wait for the right set. In Dee’s case, it was a long wait but it paid off with this gorgeous set of staggered 18” Work Equips. The fronts measuring in at 18”x11” -4 with that most curvaceous R disk, and the rears on at 18”x12” -3 on the more subtle curved O disk.
His Z33 breathes in right through an Injen dual intake. That air floods the VQ, then through some Berk test pipes, and out through an Amuse Titanium Y-pipe and catback. And sits nice and pretty over the wheels thanks to a set of Zeal Function X coilovers with F16kg/R14kg springrates stiffening the chassis. Stance toe and camber arms take car of that beautiful alignment.
With a plan to 2JZ swap the Z in the future, his main focus at the moment is finishing his RX-7. He’s also hoping the Quebec tuning scene gets more exposure.
Dee would like to thank Ardo and his team at AVFAB (http://www.avfabrication.com), Chris Tsoraidis from Overdose Performance (http://www.odv2.com), and to Jade at VividRacing. Also would really like to thank all of the people who stop stare, take pictures, and comment on the car.

“This 24 year old”. AND he owns an FD RX-7?! How cheap are cars there!! We have to work our butts of to afford an R33 GTR when were at least 24, seeing this car (occassion) costs about 26k here, it’s almost impossible to afford such cars here at that age
you lucky sons of ******s!!

Looks nice. I don’t really agree with the various black tint over the light fixtures.
Overall still a nice car, very different.

Dude, you’ve done justice to photographing a black car. More so a murdered out black on black look. Nice! I know how challenging it is to shoot one of these as they’re essentially mirrors! But these shots are way cool bro. Love it! I tried shooting a black car too (a widebody Miata), not exactly murdered coz it’s got shiny wheels, but I had to use a lot of flash and multiple exposures: http://custompinoyrides.com/2011/03/big-black-and-manly-miata-marlon-mercados-1993-mazda-mx-5/

This is one of the best looking 350Z I’ve seen. The murdered out look fits so well the body shapes.
