The Perfect Fit: Tan Gunes’ Bangin’ Blue Audi S4
When looking to purchase a new car, there are a lot of factors that come into play. For some the car has to have the right engine, and for others maybe a particular interior package. And then there are those that want it all, the right color, interior, engine, and exterior. Tan Gunes is one of those people. When searching for his new ride, he wanted to make sure the car came in the proper color and sported the perfect interior. Tan had a vision in his head and the only way that vision could come to life was in the form of a 2004 Audi S4 with Norgaro Pearl paint and blue alcantara interior.
The hunt began and took many months. Tan ran into multiple S4’s that each had their own charm but after deals fell through Gunes took it as a sign to wait on that perfect combination. Around three months into the search, the perfect car finally popped up……in Nebraska. A quick flight and the journey was over The 8 hour drive home was under way and was a nice chance to get acquainted with the new ride, and for Tan, this journey also gave him a chance to go over his plans for the Audi.
Usually in the scene today, a lot of people have a hook up or two, but being your own hook up is probably as good as it can get. Tan’s job was through his family owned muffler shop so obviously the first modification was to open up the 4.2 V8 and let is roar a little. Having the B6 sounding right, Gunes got to work, but kept the “simple and sweet” idea in his mind. He did not want to end up over doing the car so Tan added things that enhanced the look of the S4.
Tan went to work on the exterior, although adding fender flares and new bumpers wasn’t really in the blue prints. Instead blacking out the front grill, installing a set of e-code headlights, de-badging the rear, and adding smoked side markers were up first, and to help give the front a little “more”, a Cupra R lip was added. The interior followed the same simple scheme with the addition of RS4 foot pedals, carbon fiber trim, and to keep Tan from falling asleep at the wheel and possibly curbing one of those gorgeous wheels, a Kenwood touch screen head unit was added.
Now, speaking of those wheels, they are simply jaw dropping. The S4 sits on a set of massive Rotiformed Work Meister S1’s! 19×9 in the front and 19×10 in the rear, this car sits proper! The lips and faces were given the celebrity treatment by the crew at Rotiform, re-polishing the lips and covering the faces in Matte Silver. The end result was a relationship of pure goodness.
With the S4 looking right and sitting on a set of rollers that would make a Aston Martin jealous, Tan wanted to get the suspension just right and make sure that the jealous Aston Martin couldn’t keep up. A call to Air Lift and his suspension was a reality. The full Air Lift struts give the car a beautiful stance and even had me scratching my head on how to get my A4 to bag out that low! The next step was getting some go added to the show, and after reading the modification list I was convinced Tan may have robbed JHM. A JHM tune, intake manifold spacer, crank pulley, intake bypass, and short shifter were all added. These go fast bits were able to play along very well with the custom cat back Tan had installed when he first brought the S4 home.
Clearly with such an impressive car there are still modifications to talk about, and more to come from Tan in the near future. It is very nice to see such a killer road car given the performance treatment while remembering that attention to style is still being paid in full. We’d like to thank Tan for letting us take a look at his Audi and look forward to more from him soon!
