It’s automobiles like this, and people like Eric Heffernan that get others interested into the car scene. Passion is contagious, and flawless is a virtue we’d all love to have in our cars. With a creative mindset and drive to put in time and effort to build something, it is incredible to see what can be accomplished. From Kalamazoo, Michigan we bring you Eric Heffernan’s 1976 BMW 2002.

Eric inherited his automotive enthusiasm from his Dad, Bill Heffernan. Bill was into muscle cars growing up and became a gear head through domestics while Eric took a different approach and got into the European automotive community. Eric attended college at the College of Creative Studies in Detroit. Attending school near the motor capitol of the world, he was constantly around designers and people who shared a love of cars.

After finishing school, Eric moved to Kalamazoo and pursued a job with design firm called Tekna. Along with that, his dad Bill and him run a shop called Rare Rides. They specialize in custom work and clearly, it’s fantastic.

The OEM paint code, Laguna Seca Blue makes this 2002 really stick out. Eric Heffernan’s design side comes into play throughout the BMW, including the completely custom “2002″ matte black graphics.

The OEM 2002 turbo fender flares, front fascia and rear spoiler give it a well rounded, yet aggressive race car look which continuously turns heads.

The interior is another addition to the beauty. Fully custom interior themed black with charcoal suede flows from dash to back seats.  Full custom seats, black, with charcoal suede “2002″ embroidered into the headrests welcome you in. The Momo steering wheel and Momo shifter sit at rest, waiting to be gripped and driven.

Eric swapped in a limited slip differential along with a 5 speed transmission to make the BMW a more comfortable driver. The engine bay, just as pristine as the exterior goes to show just how well kept this BMW truly is.
