I've been building a new Hexacopter (6) for about 3 months now, this one is able to carry a DSLR camera. After finally getting all the bugs worked out i was ready to test it and my new wireless video transmitter. I was flying the hex while my copilot controlled the camera gimbal from a remote TV feed. For the most part we had everything operating properly just in time for another Pat's Acres Racing Complex drift event. This GoKart track located in Canby, Oregon has been providing a safe place for local rear wheel drivers to tear it up for the last 3 years now. Its always a great opportunity to see some awesome grassroots drifting as well as shoot drifting in a relaxed environment. The hottest event in the Formula Drift season, Las Vegas Motor Speedway was filled with heated battles for the remaining points before the final race in Irwindale, California. Top drivers pushed each other to the limit often ending with some serious collisions. Many of the drivers gave it all they had and left with nothing. I was fortunate enough to hang with the rest of the Canibeat crew way out in Long Beach California this last weekend and it was a blast. The tandem Canibeat X Hellflush car show brought out some awesome looking cars in a great location along with some chill people. I especially enjoyed the live music and DJ battles perched right next to the beautiful Queen Mary. After shooting all day and getting sun burnt this show will be something I definitely look forward to next year. - LORENinHD

A huge turning point at this stage of Formula Drift as Jeremy Lowe knocks out Justin Pawlak in the top 32 leaving teammate Vaughn Gettin JR to take the lead in the overall points series. Now with the top 3 drivers only 15 points from each other the battle for the championship is closer then ever.

One of my favorite shows of the year StanceWars brings cars of all makes to create the largest fitment/stance show in the northwest. Whether you're into JDM or Euro there is guaranteed to be something that spikes your interest at this show. Ironically I almost didn't make this event smashing the oil pan on my "stanced" e30 over 100 miles away but I was fortunate enough to have good friends to help me out. Everything is shot on a Canon 5Dmk2 including Canon 35mm 1.4 and a Tokina 11-16 2.8. I used a custom made slider dolly my tripod and old fashioned roller blades. Enjoy! - LORENinHD

After last years controversial layout that was reconfigured this year for a less dangerous design due to flying debris, Formula Drift made sure that this year would go as planned while still being able to capture all the excitement. This years challenge consisted of a high speed entry that immediately slowed to a sharpening corner and drivers were being challenged to their max to keep their cars on track in style. Points leader Justin Pawlak was able to fight off 2010 champion, Vaughn Gettin Jr., only to fall short to Daigo Saito's V8 Killer. Though a few people argued this as dirty driving, Daigo Saito was able to fool many of the top drivers by taking odd lines to gain an edge on the competition. The FD Judges seemed unamused but Daigo's follow runs were nothing short of perfect. And after the top 4 battles, Daigo pulled out all the stops smashing the competition with his 2Jz powered monster earning him the win in Florida.

Road to Atlanta is without a doubt one of the most beautiful tracks in the Formula D races. This year the course consisted of a new reverse layout that was more challenging than ever before. Drivers battled up and down the hills, in and out of the horseshoe blinding spectators with clouds of tire smoke while pounding their vehicles over the F1 rumble strips. With his perfect lines and incredibly close follow runs, Justin Pawlak took home his second win of the year putting him 52 points in the lead for the championship.

Not quite your average car show, Spring Meet was mostly a swap meet style show which also provided a great place to see a lot of air-cooled VWs. The atmosphere was welcoming inside the family and dog friendly Bellevue Community College parking garage. Each of the 4 levels offered something from food to cars, with sponsored raffles benefiting local charities. This was a great place to kick back with friends and proves that even a show as small as this can still be interesting. Read More

The first round of Formula Drift kicked off in Long Beach, CA on the world famous Grand Prix Street Course. Rookie driver Daigo Saito from Japan was driving in a +1000whp sc430 came in 3rd place, putting down the thickest clouds of smoke ever seen in FD. Justin Pawlak managed to once again smash the competition with his amazing lead runs, and dangerously close follow runs to beat the 2011 champion, Daijiro Yoshihara. Justin Pawlak once again took the victory at Long Beach for the 2nd year in a row.
