A Look Back: First Class Fitment 2012: Official Photo Coverage

FCF12_Coverage_COVER

For the third year in a row, our annual First Class Fitment meet at Princeton Airport has been a successful bookend to the East Coast show circuit. The event is organized as an invitational showcase for the best examples of the fitment scene on this side of the Mississippi, and the key draw for this show has always been a concentrated diversity that simply doesn't exist in other events. First Class Fitment is a manifestation of Canibeat's commitment to bringing our readers the largest variety of cars in our community crammed into a single day of food, music, friends, and feature-worthy cars Read More

Savannah Speed Classic: The Epic [Video]

Nine in the morning on Thursday, Ethan Watson woke up to the sound of race cars in the distance.  Popping downshifts and rev limiters lasted the entire weekend on the small island called Hutchinson, located in Savannah, Georgia. Ethan and his friend Stephen Sullivan intended to shoot the annual Savannah Speed Classic, but on the last day of the event decided to join forces and make a short video. It's shocking to think that when the first record button was hit to when Ethan finished uploading the video to Vimeo, the turn around time was less than 24 hours. We hope you enjoy the video! Canibeat’s First Class Fitment 2012 | 4MATIONMEDIA (Video)

"Canibeat always does an amazing job setting up a quality car event showcasing quality cars. First Class Fitment definitely takes the cake as one of the best car shows of the year. I was fortunate to attend again this year and here's my little coverage video of the event. Everyone's cars who was in the show was on point and I wish I could have filmed all of them. But I hope you all like my video and please, as always…Watch it, Like it, SHARE it! By the way, I've always loved the song I used ever since I first heard it on Gran Turismo 2. If you all recognized the song, then props to you! Now I feel old knowing that I played GT2." - Daniel Phan (4MATIONMEDIA) Music: The Cardigans - My Favorite Game

H2O International 2012 Coverage [Video]

After missing many of the previous H2Oi weekends in Ocean City, Maryland, I finally got my act together and ventured out with some close friends to experience the event. Upon arriving, we witnessed the madness already beginning. Ocean City quickly became a giant party in every direction. The whole weekend filled the streets with Volkswagens and many other fitted cars. Parking lots turned into huge meets and sidewalks became front row seats to the streets' craziness. After getting settled in, cruising around with everyone, and finding food at my new favorite restaurant, Big Pecker's, night came, and we were quickly drenched in Ocean City's infamous rain. However, It passed overnight and cleared up just in time allowing for a beautiful Sunday show at the campground. I've learned that H2O is a huge event. Cars are literally everywhere, but that's why it is such a great event. This will be a memorable experience that goes beyond that of a typical car show. I got to see some familiar faces and also meet many new friends. H2O weekend is something I'm already looking forward to next year. Read More

[Video] Formula Drift | After Dark (Las Vegas Motor Speedway)

The hottest event in the Formula Drift season, Las Vegas Motor Speedway was filled with heated battles for the remaining points before the final race in Irwindale, California. Top drivers pushed each other to the limit often ending with some serious collisions. Many of the drivers gave it all they had and left with nothing. Check out my recap of the event containing driver interviews and incredible slow-mo shots bringing you closer than ever before. - LORENinHD

Japanese Classic Car Show (JCCS) 2012: An East Coast Perspective

JCCS 2012

The East Coast is a tough place to be for fans of vintage Japanese automobiles. While there are definitely pockets of enthusiasts throughout region (I'm thinking of Atlanta's own Garage Zero), there just aren't as many good original specimens to to be found. Most Northeastern cars have long since succumbed to rust, disappointing many junkyard pickers hoping to find that perfect chassis.  And while there are still excellent examples to found down South, the prevalence of the pro-domestic, pro-muscle mentality following the post-war era meant that early examples of Japanese cars were largely treated as disposable economic appliances, and true contemporary enthusiasts were few and far between.  So while I've certainly been exposed to my fair share of Nissan Z cars, the 80's Toyota RWDs, and Mazda RX-7s, my experience with the more pedestrian models (not to mention modified examples) has largely been limited to a few random sightings.
