I’ll admit it: I have been on a big body kick for a while now, just ask Jeremy Whittle and Austin Morris. In just the last couple of months, I’ve had the pleasure to snap photos of both, thus confirming that the BMW 740il is on top of my big body style list.

Euro Tripper 3: Official Coverage

eurotripper_cover

For most of us in the U.S., February is a time of shoveling snow and doing our best to stay warm. Our cars are usually in winter mode or hibernating until spring, either undergoing changes or collecting dust while the snow slowly melts. Paul Barney on the other hand is a busy man in February. For the third year in a row, he has organized Euro Tripper, a European auto show in Ft.Myers, Florida. Though this year brought big changes for Euro Tripper the main focus is still on benefiting Brooke’s Legacy, a local animal rescue.

Hidden Gem: Jimmy’s VIP Inspired Lexus GS400

lexus_cover

I first met Jimmy after the Formula Drift at Irwindale last year. But I had no idea he was guarding a big, beautiful secret. After the event I joined a couple of friends and the guys from Borla Exhaust to go-karting on a slick track because we had to get drifting out of our system. Jimmy met us there, rolling up in his daily NA Miata. While waiting on line for go-karts, my friend, Daniel Covarrubias, kept telling me that I had to see the project car Jimmy had at home. The more Daniel talked about the car the more embarrassed the humble Jimmy became. It was really quite funny. After a while Jimmy agreed to let me see the car next time I was in the area, insisting it was “nothing special.” My interest was piqued and I had to see what my friend Daniel was buzzing about. So a few weeks later I made it to Jimmy’s place.  He seemed very nervous and told me he couldn’t show me the car because he had debeaded one of his tires and didn’t want me to see the car until everything was perfect. I was disappointed but still interested. Three weeks later I was back and this time Jimmy was ready to show me what he had been so embarrassed about. I couldn’t believe how wide the car was and the way it sat was just mind blowing. I loved it. I told him I had to get this car in front of my lens and shoot it as soon as possible. Jimmy said no one had ever featured his car and couldn’t tell if I was joking or not. After some reassurance and a couple weeks time we finally agreed on a time.

The Golden Era: Minh’s Stand Out Honda S2000

s2k-cover

In the early 1960’s, Honda released the S600 Sports Coupe; a predecessor to a car that would today become legendary in it’s own right as one of the purest sports cars ever released by an equally legendary manufacturer. The turn of the millennium was a special time for fans of Honda performance. We were introduced to the first Civic Si to be sold in America featuring a twin-cam engine. The NSX had just arrived with it’s second generation chassis. Limited quantities of the first-ever Type R to be offered in America were now available. Honda’s continued success in the automotive sub-culture and its reemergence in Formula One reflected its dedication to motor sports and producing performance-minded vehicles, if only for a few more years. And as a tribute to this storied history, the Honda S2000 was unleashed upon the masses.

Double Header: Super Street Fresh Tokyo Meet / Tokyo Auto Salon 2015

TAS

Last month, on the other side of our precious globe, the annual Tokyo Auto Salon hit the Makuhari Messe in Chiba City’s Mihama-ku ward. As can be expected from one of the top auto shows for modified and tuned vehicles, based in the tuner capital of the world that hosts roots back to the latter part of the ’80s, advocates of each and every sector of Japan’s automotive culture were present in full suit. The show as a whole has continued to gain momentum in regards to popularity as the years continue to commence, making the Tokyo Auto Salon the place to be in January when feasible. Luckily for us, we had eyes not only on the show, but at Super Street’s Fresh Tokyo Meet that give perspective of what goes within the shadows, outside of the spotlights.

Breaking The Mold: Tyler’s Exquisite Subaru Wagon

subby-cover

There is an ever-evolving stigma in the automotive community that all vehicles should add form to a certain standard. A check list of acceptable modification so to speak. For ages now, a battle has raged between those who prefer form over function and vice-verse. However, there are a defiant few who stand against the typical norm; those who stand to do things their own way without a care in the world regarding the judgement or admiration of others. Tyler happens to be one of those select individuals.

WEKFEST MIA 2014 (Miami Beach, FL): Official Coverage

wekfest

In 2011 Weakest made the decision to launch the Wekfest USA tour. 2014 marked the first time the tour made its way to the sunshine state, Miami specifically. Usually Canibeat vends at both the California and New Jersey shows, but because Miami’s event was so close to the holidays I decided to just personally go down there to check it out. I made the trip to Orlando where I met up with JDM KAM, Nick from Simplyclean, and a few friends and we made the four hour drive from there. The one thing I have noticed about Weakest is no matter where they go, whether it’s a small scene or a big scene, quality cars always come out.

I was in Orlando for Simply Clean exactly a month prior and it was good to be back. A little sunshine and being away from the cold up North is always a blessing. We hope you enjoy our coverage and if you couldn’t make it out this year hopefully our coverages makes you want to in 2015!

The One: Matt Conway’s Volkswagen R32

r32-cover

We all have that one thing in life that we need. It can be in many different areas; the right person, the right shoes, the right food, and for the insane car enthusiast in all of us, the right vehicle. For Matt Conaway, having owned Volkswagens and Audis his whole driving experience he knew one vehicle was right for him, and that was Volkswagen’s pinnacle of the Golf/GTI world–the R32. No other car from Volkswagen captured the true passion of a car owner like their all-wheel drive, VR6 hot hatch. Matt knew he had to have one, and when he finally purchased the one you see below, he knew it was the one for him.
