It’s said that if you want something bad enough you’ll get it, that the law of attraction will work in mysterious ways ultimately granting you your wish if you can fork up the patience. I believe this to be quite a plausible factor of life, and for this particular 24-year-old Windy City native he finally got what he had been dreaming about for so many years.

EVOLUTION Presented by BLOX is a unique concept that encompasses many different elements.
While shooting Austin Morris’s Ruckus a couple months ago he brought up his Passat project that was in the works. The plans he had in mind sounded extensive and daunting, but after long nights in the garage and some meticulous planning Austin Morris finally revealed his latest creation, and I’ll be honest… I didn’t quite expect this.
Each year as the bitter cold begins to retreat the folks at Grossman Tuning wrap up their plans for their Spring show-season opener, Water by the Bridge. What started as a small get together at their shop in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, has become a must-attend for anyone in the MidWest and Southern U.S. The former “Grossman Tuning Show” has seen quite an exponential increase in attendance since its humble beginnings in the back parking lot of their shop.

To wrap up the month of April and kick off the new season on the East Coast Team Summospeed presented the fifth annual Springfest, hosted at a brand new location that really set the tone compared to previous years. This year Springfest laid claim to the Virginia Beach Convention center, which allowed the event to be broken up into an inside and outside portion. The weather that hit Virginia and the surrounding states the night before the show left minor concerns on how it would affect the attendance of participants. Thankfully everyone woke up to a cloudless sky on show day and Springfest 5 ended up being more than proper, providing a DJ, food, an on-site mobile dyno, vendors, and a diverse showcase of cars.
Needless to say Springfest was a great time prior to this year, but now with the new location the event has definitely become the show to attend if you want to start the season off the right way.

Being a vintage car owner myself, builds that pop up involving anything pre-80s always manage to grab my attention. When Cristian first showed me pictures of Ryan’s Datsun I was blown away because for one it was a chassis that you rarely see, but also that this was a car that had been preserved with exquisite precision. The model that spans across your screen is a 1974 Datsun 610 Bluebird-U SSS-E which Ryan and his wife have carefully nurtured back to its showroom condition and have also extensively documented this unique piece of vintage car history.

When you have been actively involved in the automotive community for a few years you start to notice a commonality amongst most of the enthusiasts that make this culture. Back in the days of our childhoods we came to know what the definition of a car was thanks to our fathers. Whether it was spending the sun-kissed Saturday afternoons in the garage, fixing up an old Impala, or spending Sunday mornings in local classic car shows on the shoulders of our dads… most of us had our first experience of what we love today with the greatest male figure in our lives. For Nick Pederson those childhood memories didn’t exactly happen like a storybook. Veritably, it wasn’t until his early adulthood that his father began to show Nick the ropes around a car, and those moments were to never be taken for granted.

In the last few years there has been an emphasis across all of the car scenes to “keep it clean,” which has manifested itself in the form of an OEM+ style of modification. Personally it’s a style I appreciate and attempt to emulate in my own vehicles because it’s how many think the vehicles should have looked from the factory. It’s amazing what a drop, wheels, badge-less grill, some OE Euro or JDM parts, a little bit of body work/shaving, and an interior swap will do for a vehicle. Sure there is a place for lip kits, over fenders, wings and custom fabrication, but something about an OEM+ modified car seems so… pure.
For this week’s Wallpaper Wednesday post, Photographer Ed Whitbeck has shared his recent shoot of Tyler Hayes’ bagged STi. The car is dropped on Airlift Slam Series Struts with Accuair managment. The wheels are a stunning set of Brada BR10s with gold hardware wrapped in Hankook Ventus V12 rubber.
